Teri Hatcher to take over from Vanessa Williams in 'The Devil Wears Prada'

Bond girl and Desperate Housewives star Teri Hatcher will star as Runway Editor-in-Chief Miranda Priestly when Vanessa Williams takes her final bow in The Devil Wears Prada in the West End this month. Her run will begin on 20 October, continuing through 6 February 2027.

Debbie Kurup will play the role between 21 September and 17 October.

Best known to audiences for her role as Susan Mayer in Desperate Housewives, Hatcher made her musical theatre debut as Sally Bowles in the national tour of Sam Mendes' revival of Cabaret. She recently played Morticia Addams in The Addams Family.

Hatcher said: “I’ve been fortunate enough to play some pretty formidable women throughout my career, but very few can compare to THE Miranda Priestly. I'm absolutely delighted to be joining The Devil Wears Prada in the West End. Miranda is intelligent, commanding, and has a glorious way of putting you in your place while being funny at the same time.

"Her dialogue is unforgettable, her confidence is contagious. These are the kinds of roles one loves to play. I can't wait to embrace Miranda's sharp wit, fierce ambition, and iconic style, and share her story on a stage with a new audience every night.”

The lead cast also includes Stevie Doc as Andy, Taila Halford as Emily, Keelan McAuley as Nate, and Dominic Andersen as Christian.

With music by Elton John, book by Kate Wetherhead, and lyrics Shaina Taub and Mark Sonnenblick, The Devil Wears Prada follows aspiring journalist Andy as she is initiated into the world of high fashion through an assistant position to Runway magazine editor-in-chief, Miranda Priestly.

The creative team also includes direction and choreography by Jerry Mitchell, set design by Tim Hatley, costume design by Gregg Barnes, lighting design by Bruno Poet, and sound design by Gareth Owen.
