Into the Hoods at Queen Elizabeth Hall from 16 Dec

The hip-hop dance show Into the Hoods by ZooNation, returns to the London stage at Southbank Centre's Queen Elizabeth Hall from 16 Dec 2009 to 10 Jan 2010.

The show, which had a run at the West End's Novello Theatre in 2008, is a hip-hop street dance/theatre version of Stephen Sondheim's musical Into the Woods. It puts an urban spin on the story and sets it to a soundtrack of music by artists including Massive Attack to Kanye West

ZooNation updates the action to an urban setting, telling the story of two children lost in the 'hood'. An evil landlord befriends the children and they are offered a room in his tenement block on the condition that they work for him. Reluctantly, the children embark on their mission which leads them to the flats of Spinderella, where they discover gold adidas trainers; Lil Red, the owner of the bright red hoodie; Rapper, the producer of the finest quality long weave (hair extensions) in the city, and Jaxx (who lives in the basement...), the owner of a white Ipod. But is stealing really the way to get out of the hood?

It is directed and choreographed by Kate Prince.
