'Jagged Little Pill’ to open in London this autumn

The Alanis Morissette musical expected to open in November.

You oughta know this musical! The Alanis Morrisette jukebox musical Jagged Little Pill will receive its West End premiere later this year. Jagged Little Pill is expected to open in the autumn, with a theatre and performance dates to be announced.

In a tweet from Daily Mail entertainment reporter, Baz Bamigboye, Jagged Little Pill is headed to the West End in November. The show will feature the same creatives as the Broadway production, and Jagged Little Pill will feature a British cast.

The Jagged Little Pill musical follows the Healy family who try to present themselves as a picture-perfect family, but troubling events in the community disrupt their lifestyle. The Jagged Little Pill musical is named after Alanis Morisette's third studio album of the same name, which features songs such as "Hand In My Pocket" and "Ironic."

 In a five star Broadway review of Jagged Little Pill for New York Theatre Guide, Jagged Little Pill is a "visceral woven tapestry of the kids we made... The artistry of Morissette is magnified by Cody — that raw honest desire Generation X has been afraid to feel since the '90's." 

Jagged Little Pill premiered at the American Repertory Theater in 2018. A year later, Jagged Little Pill opened on Broadway on 3 Nov. 2019, with a final performance on 17 Dec. 2021. Jagged Little Pill received 15 Tony Award nominations, winning two categories: Best Book of a Musical, and Best Featured Actress in a Musical (for Lauren Patten). The Jagged Little Pill musical album also won a Grammy Award for Best Musical Theatre Album.

The Jagged Little Pill Broadway creative team are set to reunite for the production. The creative team includes Diane Paulus as director, an original story by Diablo Cody, music by Alanis Morissette and Glen Ballard, and lyrics by Morissette. Choreogpraphy is by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, with scenic design by Riccardo Hernandez, costume design by Emily Rebholz, lighting design by Justin Townsend and sound design by Jonathan Deans.

Jagged Little Pill will open in the West End in 2022.
