JERMYN STREET THEATRE was once the changing rooms for the male staff of Getti (formerly the Spaghetti House) Restaurant upstairs.

Statement from administrator Penny Horner....

In 1992, Howard Jameson transformed the space into a luxury studio theatre in the heart of the West End. After receiving planning permission, the Trustees of the charity started the project in April 1994. Materials, expertise and services to the value of £280,000 were donated by 56 British companies, with the major donation of goodwill, from Laings builders.

We opened our doors in August 1994. Our efforts were further rewarded, in 1997, by a National Lottery Grant from The Arts Council of England, enabling us to provide even better facilities for our customers.

Our aim is to provide talented new actors, directors and writers with the opportunity to be recognised and given a platform in the best West End Studio theatre.

The theatre is run by the Trustees, who are all volunteers. The Treasurer sometimes doubles as the cleaner and the Chairman has been known to run the hoover around the place!.

This is the story of Jermyn Street Theatre. We have an unshakable passion to help those in need. Funds from the Royal Gala will be used to up-grade the air conditioning and replace the carpets.
