Little Shop of Horrors extends to Sep 2007
The Menier Chocolate Factory production of Little Shop of Horrors has been extended 3 months at the West End's Duke of York's Theatre - tickets now on sale to 1 Sep 2007.
The show transferred to the Duke of York's Theatre, opening 12 March 2007, following previews from 6 March, to mostly good notices from the popular press: MADDY COSTA for THE GUARDIAN says, "A charming production." CHARLES SPENCER for THE DAILY TELEGRAPH says, "I can't see how anyone could fail to have a good time at Matthew White's exuberant show." NICHOLAS DE JONGH for THE EVENING STANDARD says, "Now, in the West End, Matthew White's production strikes many witless, dull and gross notes."
The show has book and Lyrics by Howard Ashman, music by Alan Menken.
Directed by Matthew White, the cast includes: Sheridan Smith (Audrey), Paul Keating (Seymour), Barry James (Mushnik), Alistair McGowan, Jenny Fitzpatrick, Katie Kerr, Melitsa Nicola, Matthew Eames
It has designs and costumes by David Farley, choreography by Lynne Page, lighting by Paul Anderson, musical supervision by Caroline Humphris and sound design by Gareth Owen.
Down and out Skid Row floral assistant Seymour becomes an overnight sensation when he discovers an exotic plant with a mysterious craving for fresh blood. Soon 'Audrey II' grows into an ill-tempered, foul-mouthed, R&B-singing carnivore offering him fame and fortune in exchange for feeding its growing appetite… but as Audrey II’s hungry demands increase, all that Seymour holds dear is threatened as the plant’s sinister agenda for global domination is revealed….
