'Matilda' sets new West End casting
Multiple new principal actors will join existing cast members in the hit musical, which will enter its 15th year at the Cambridge Theatre this autumn.
Welcome to Crunchem Hall! Matilda The Musical has named new cast members, who will join the West End production at the Cambridge Theatre from 9 September.
Edie McCaig and Emilia Shefford will join existing performers Suki Hillier and Mia Rogers in the role of Matilda. Other new young performers joining the London company as Bruce, Lavender, Nigel and the students at Crunchem Hall are Sid Boyle, Ava Evangelista, Freya Fulford, John Johnson, Theo Kamande, Kanaho Kurihara, Albie Lambert, Kennedy-May Mcleary, Savannah McDowell, Mason Mingle, Lola Smith, Huxley Syers, Orla Vellacott and Jihyun Yoon.
Continuing young cast members include Alexander Beaumont, William Gurney, Chase King, Reuben Laming, Maxwell McGetrick, Theo Oh, Drew Reilly, Harry Relf, Isabella Rummery, Khit Thakin and Aisha Ugurhan.
Also new to the cast is Jon Robyns as Miss Trunchbull. Continuing adult cast members include Tiffany Graves as Mrs Wormwood, Neil McDermott as Mr Wormwood and Eve Norris as Miss Honey.
The ensemble includes continuing members Reece Budin, William Elijah-Lewis, Alex Louize Bird and Dawn Williams, and new members Kofi Aidoo-Appiah, Naomi Alade, Katie Bradley, Millie Brown-Thornton, Antony Lawrence, Nick Len, Tania Mathurin, Ben Middleton, James Oliver, Stuart Rouse, Chloe Saunders and Callum Train.
Adapted from Roald Dahl's beloved children's book, Matilda follows a bookish young girl with telekinetic powers she uses to stand up to cruel adults and injustice in her world. The show recently celebrated its 5,000th performance, and it will become the 10th-longest-running musical in West End history this August. It enters its 15th year in the West End this autumn, when it will also launch a U.K. and Ireland tour.
