Mission Not Quite Impossible

Late yesterday afternoon I suddenly had a bee in my bonnet. Totally out of the blue, I decided that I just had to see Cynthia Erivo in 'Dessa Rose' (at the Trafalgar Studios 2). The show closes on Saturday and so I had to move fast. Naturally enough, tickets were very hard to come by. Only a single ticket was available for the evening performance, but I prefer to go to the theatre with a plus one - call me old fashioned. I tried again an hour later and something miraculous had taken place - three pairs of tickets had become available. So I ordered a pair as quickly as I could, got ready in ten minutes (also quite miraculous), and was able to make it in time for the start of the performance an hour and a half later.

So, the moral of this story is that if at first you don't succeed, try again ...

And how was Cynthia Erivo? Well, I was mesmerised. A star is born. Cynthia has been on the London stage a few times now, always receiving rave reviews, and this is no exception. I should also mention the rest of the cast as they too were superb. But the night belonged to Cynthia, and we are so lucky to have an actor/singer of her calibre in the West End.

I do hope that bee finds its way into my bonnet again sometime soon!
