New cast announced for Matilda the Musical at the Cambridge Theatre
A new cast change has been announced for Matilda at the Cambridge Theatre.
Direct from the show's UK and Ireland tour, Elliot Harper returns to the West End production of Matilda as Miss Trunchbull, previously appearing in Les Miserables and The Phantom of the Opera.
Sebastian Torkia also joins the cast of Matilda after the national tour, reprising the role of Mr Wormwood. Marianne Benedict will continue in the role of Mrs Wormwood.
After appearing in the national tour, Carly Thoms will also join the West End cast from March 2020, taking over the role of Miss Honey from Gina Beck. Thoms' notable theatre credits include Thoroughly Modern Millie at the Adelphi Theatre and The Rise and Fall of Little Voice at the Union Theatre.
The titular role will be shared by Tilly-Raye Bayer, Olivia Juno Cleverley, Alex Munden and Zoe Simon, with the cast change celebrating the 100th young actress cast to play the role of Matilda.
The adult cast of Matilda will star Alex Louize Bird, Liberty Buckland, Georgia Carling, Roger Dipper, Kelly Ewins-Prouse, Ben Kerr, Matt Krzan, Connor Lewis, Tom Mather, Kane Oliver Parry, Landi Oshinowo, Ryan Pidgen, James Revell, Gemma Scholes, Christopher Tendai and Dawn Williams.
The three teams of child casts who will perform in Matilda include Lily Armitage, Brian Bartle, Kaspar Cahill-Ritter, Kingsley Campbell-Golding, Sienna Clarke, Haydn Court, Tyler De Souza, Shana Diallo, Rosie Gell-Marquez, Beth Gilmour, Louie Gray, Edward Haddon, Gracie Hodson-Prior, Emily Rees, Elliott Rose, Samson Wakayu, Louis Wint, Toby Brandon, Tom Brown, Lucia Coleman, Leonardo Dickens, Ta'niyah Fearon-Telfer, Sophie Richards, Bella Simmons and Mia White.
Matilda tells the story of a schoolgirl, whose psychokinetic powers are used when she takes control of her own destiny. The musical features an original soundtrack by Tim Minchin, with songs including 'Revolting Children' and 'When I Grow Up'.
Matilda is at the Cambridge Theatre.
