Production images of Michael Ball, Alexandra Burke, Cassidy Janson, Tim Howar and Cedric Neal in Chess have been released.
Ball stars as Russian chess grandmaster Anatoly Sergievsky. He was last seen on the London stage in Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street at the Adelphi Theatre. Burke portrays Anatoly's estranged wife Svetlana. She is best-known for winning The X Factor in 2008 and recently starred in The Bodyguard at the Dominion Theatre.
Janson (Beautiful: The Carole King Musical) plays Florence, Neal (Motown the Musical) stars as The Arbiter and singer Tim Howar, lead vocalist of Mike + the Mechanics, will perform the role of Freddie.
Written by great musical lyricist Sir Tim Rice, with music by ABBA songwriters Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, Chess tells the story of a tournament between two grandmasters, one American, the other a Soviet. Between them, apart from a chess board, is a woman who manages one of the men, and who falls in love with the other.
Known for its songs 'One Night in Bangkok' and the UK Number 1 single 'I Know Him So Well', this production will feature the English National Opera's award-winning orchestra and chorus.
Chess is at the London Coliseum until Saturday 2nd June.
