Production images have been released showing the brand new cast of Kinky Boots in action.

Simon-Anthony Rhoden takes over the role of Lola from Matt Henry, who won an Olivier Award in 2016 for his portrayal of the character. Verity Rushworth, who is known for her role as Donna Windsor in Emmerdale, takes over as Lauren. The new cast have their first performance at the Adelphi Theatre tonight (10th July 2017). The musical also stars David Hunter as Charlie Price, Cordelia Farnworth as Nicola and Alan Mehdizadeh as Don.

Kinky Boots is set in Northampton and follows a young Charlie Price who reluctantly inherits his father's struggling shoe factory. Eventually, Charlie finds inspiration in the form of Lola, a drag performer who is in need of some sturdy stilettos for her act. It is based on the 2005 film by Geoff Deane and Tim Firth, and opened on Broadway in 2013 where it won the Tony Award for Best Musical. It has a score by Grammy Award winner Cyndi Lauper, and a book by Broadway legend Harvey Fierstein.

The production, which is directed by Jerry Mitchell, opened in the West End in 2015 and starred Henry, Killian Donnelly (who is currently starring in Les Miserables) and Amy Lennox.

Rhoden's previous theatre credits include Marianne (New Wimbledon Theatre), Married to the Game (Theatre503) and If I Should Stay (Soho). Rushworth, who appeared in Emmerdale for over 11 years, has appeared on stage in the UK tours of And Then There Were None and Carnaby Street the Musical, as well as playing Velma in Chicago at Leicester Curve.

Kinky Boots tickets are on sale now.
