Richard Eyre to adapt and direct Ghosts at Almeida Theatre

Richard Eyre to adapt and direct Ghosts by Henrik Ibsen, opening at the Almeida Theatre, an Off West End venue in Angel, north London, on 3 Oct 2013, following previews from 26 Sep - running to 23 Nov 2013. (Public booking opens 23 April).

Michael Attenborough, Artistic Director, of the Almeida Theatre said: "When Richard proposed directing his own new version of Ghosts at the Almeida, I jumped at the idea. His production for us of his version of Hedda Gabler with the then unknown Eve Best and Benedict Cumberbatch was a masterful piece of work and his recent realisation of Nick Dear's The Dark Earth and The Light Sky was simply ravishing. I could not be more delighted to be welcoming Richard back as part of my final season at the Almeida."

Concerns Mrs Alving, who is preparing for the opening of an orphanage - a memorial to her late husband. Her son Oswald, an artist, returns home for the celebrations. A story of love, betrayal and hypocrisy gradually unfolds as ghosts from the past come back to haunt the living, making sure the sins of the fathers are never forgiven.
