Rita Simons to join cast of Everybody’s Talking About Jamie as Miss Hedge
Eastenders star Rita Simons will make her West End debut as Miss Hedge in Everybody's Talking About Jamie at the Apollo Theatre later this year.
Best known as playing Roxy Mitchell in the BBC soap opera alongside Samantha Womack as Ronnie Mitchell, Simons' theatre credits include a touring production of The House on Cold Hill in 2019, and a national tour of Legally Blonde in 2017.
Simons will take over the role of Miss Hedge from 5th August, playing the role for a limited engagement to 16th November. She will assume the role from Faye Tozer, who will play her final performance on 3rd August.
Mitchell will star alongside Layton Williams as Jamie and Bill Ward as Hugo/Loco Chanelle, who was recently announced that he will take over the role from Bianca Del Rio on 1st July.
Everybody's Talking About Jamie follows Jamie New, a 16-year-old who decides to wear a dress at his high school prom. The musical opened at the Apollo Theatre in 2017, with performances currently scheduled to 25th January 2020.
