Samantha Barks and Carrie Hope Fletcher to star in West End summer concert series

Three concerts will take place at the prestigious venue.

Enjoy a trio of West End musicals in concert at Theatre Royal Drury Lane this summer. Concert performances of Chess, Kinky Boots and a new musical Treason will take place at Theatre Royal Drury Lane in August.

Samantha Barks and Hadley Fraser will star in a Chess musical concert on 1 August. Set during a Cold War chess tournament, Chess explores relationships and ideologies through two grandmasters. Barks will play Florence and Fraser will play Anatoly.

The Chess cast includes Joel Harper-Jackson as Freddie, Frances Mayli McCann as Svetlana, Ako Mitchell as The Arbiter, Joseph Craig, Darius J James, Aoife Kenny, Jessica Lee, Nick Len, Natasha May-Thomas, Alice Readie, Stuart Rouse, Phoebe Samuel-Gray, Grant Thresh and Libby Watts.

The Chess concerts features direction and choreography by Nick Winston, design by Ruth Sutcliffe, lighting by Ben Cracknell, lighting by Chris Winn and sound design by Tom Marshall.

Courtney Bowman, Cedric Neal and Matt Willis will then star in a Kinky Boots musical concert on 8 August. Willis will play Charlie Price, a shoe-making factory owner who changes his mind and opens his heart when he meets drag queen Lola. Neal will play Lola, with Bowman playing Lauren and further casting to be announced.

Omar F Okai directs, with design by Ruth Sutcliffe, lighting by Ben Cracknell and sound design by Tom Marshall.

The concert series concludes with a Treason concert, a new musical based on Guy Fawkes’ infamous gunpowder plot. The Treason cast includes Daniel Boys as King James, Les Dennis as Robert Cecil, Carrie Hope Fletcher as Martha Percy, Emilie Louise Israel as Eleanor Brooksby, Waylon Jacobs as Jack Wright, Bradley Jaden as Thomas Percy, Rebecca Lachance as Anne Vaux, Cedric Neal as Earl of Northumberland, Adam Pearce as Thomas Wintour and Simon-Anthony Rhoden as Robert Catesby.

Hannah Chissick directs the Treason concert. The performance will feature choreography by Taylor Walker, design by Ruth Sutcliffe, lighting by Simisola Majekodunmi and sound design by Tom Marshall. Treason will take place on 22 August. Treason was last performed in concert at Cadogan Hall in 2021.

All three concerts will feature the London Musical Theatre Orchestra.
