Shayne Ward cast in Rock Of Ages at Shaftesbury

X Factor winner Shayne Ward has been cast in Rock of Ages, which opens at the Shaftesbury Theatre 27 Sep 2011, following previews from 31 Aug - booking to 11 Feb 2012.

Shayne Ward performs the role of disillusioned rock bad boy Stacee Jaxx. He has sold over 3 million records worldwide since winning the X Factor in 2005. ROCK OF AGES The Musical marks his West End debut. He said: "I cannot wait to take to the stage for Rock of Ages it's an absolute thrill to have been chosen for this part and can't wait to show a new side to my voice." Ward released his third album Obsession last Autumn, followed by a nationwide UK and Ireland tour.

He joins previously mentioned Justin Lee Collins , who plays ageing hippy Dennis Dupree.

Rock of Ages is directed by Kristin Hanggi, it has book by Chris D'Arienzo, with a score featuring 80's rock music.

In 1987 on the Sunset Strip, a small town girl meets a big city rocker in LA's most famous rock club and they fell in love to the greatest songs of the 80s. Songs include Don't Stop Believin', Dead or Alive, We Built This City, I Wanna Know what Love Is and The Final Count Down.
