David Grieg's 2013 play The Events will open at the Young Vic Maria Studio on 11 July, following previews from 10 July 2014 - running to 2 Aug 2014. This new production comes to London following a UK tour, and ahead of a number of North America dates throughout 2014.

Amanda Drew leads the touring cast in the role of 'Claire', alongside Clifford Samuel in the role of 'The Boy'. Drew was recently in the National Theatre's production of 'The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time', and is most well known as playing Dr May Wright in BBC's 'Eastenders'. She will play the role until the end of April, when her part will be recast for the Young Vic run. Clifford Samuel's previous credits includes 'Statement of Regret' at the National Theatre and 'Two Gentlemen of Verona' with the RSC.

Produced by The Actors Touring Company, Young Vic Theatre and Brageteatret & Schauspielhaus Wien, 'The Events' premiered at The Traverse in Edinburgh during the 2013 Edinburgh Festival. It transferred to The Young Vic last Autumn, and now returns to the venue as part of a UK national and US tour.

The Events is a tale of "tragedy, obsession and the destructive desire to fathom the unfathomable". As a politically motivated crime shocks a small community, human nature and forgiveness is tested in the face of atrocity. The drama is set against a soundtrack by Irish composer John Browne and features a different local choir at every performance.
