The MAD Fringe fundraising festival at Trafalgar Studios 2 from 18th - 23rd August 2008

TheatreMAD presents The MAD Fringe, a fundraising festival with cabaret, comedy, theatre and music from 18th - 23rd August 2008 at the Trafalgar Studios 2.

TheatreMAD fundraise for those affected by HIV, AIDS and other critical illnesses.

David Pendlebury, Chairman of TheatreMAD, commented that, 'We are thrilled to be bringing The MAD Fringe to the Trafalgar Studios. The line-up looks fantastic, with something there to cater for all tastes. It's great that we can showcase some really interesting and exciting new shows whilst raising money for the many people we support. And we are, as always, extremely grateful to everyone involved for donating their time and to the Ambassador Theatre Group for their ongoing support.'

GERTRUDE'S SECRET

Join Michael Billington, theatre critic for the Guardian, as he interviews one of Britain's most respected actors currently starring in The Female of the Species at the Vaudeville Theatre

A normal night in a bustling Northern pub. The Landlord and Landlady serve a stream of customers with their customary smiles. But as the evening draws on, the quaint and convivial atmosphere dissipates to reveal something darker and more disturbing. As the suffering of the customers begins to show, the publicans are forced to confront their own unspoken tragedy.

FRIDAY 22ND AUGUST

THE ELEPHANT'S CHILD AND OTHER STORIES

Theatre company, Metta Theatre, present a new puppet opera based on Rudyard Kipling's classic tale, The Elephant's Child, and tell several other improvised and interactive Just So stories.

RAINDOGS
by Andrew MacBean

A musical based on Balm in Gilead, Lanford Wilson's first full length play. He was a new arrival to the early '60s counter-culture scene in downtown Manhattan, and decided to write what he saw.


SATURDAY 23RD AUGUST

VULGAR VOLES & HAIRY HOGS
Time: 2.45pm - Price £10 (Children £7.50) Join Vayu Naidu Company resident storytellers, Emily Parrish and Craig Jenkins, high up in the treetops to hear some of their favourite furry tales with curly tails.

THE SHOW GIRLS

It's been a long night. The girls have been on London's West End stages playing problem solving nuns, dancing queens, flying witches and early 19th century French peasants. Now it's time to have some fun of their own, leaving the peasants behind and bringing Burlesque back to town! And don't forget... it's rude not to stare...
