The Signalman at The Duke Theatre, Hampstead

The Signalman, a short story by Charles Dickens, adapted for the stage by Anthony Cord, is at the Duke Theatre, a new fringe venue in the basement of the Duke of Hamilton Pub, in Hampstead, north London, from 20 Mar to 8 Apr 2012.

Antony Cord also directs and stars in the play, with Joshy Connor.

This two hander, tells the tragic tale of a lone signal man who is visited by a traveller. This ghost story is based on the incident on Dickens's own involvement in the Staplehurst rail crash on 9 June 1865. The story wrestles with the struggle between the rational and the super-natural.
