Theatrical artists in Queen's Birthday Honours List
The Queen's Birthday Honours List 2010 include Actress Anne Reid (MBE); playwright Ronald Harwood (Knighted), and actor John Nettles (OBE).
Actress Anne Reid (MBE) has worked extensively in television, film and theatre. Her London stage credits include "Happy Now?" at the Cottesloe, NT in 2008; "Epitaph Fopr George Dillon" at the Comedy in 2005";"The York Realist" at the Royal Court & Strand Theatres in 2002; "Wild Oats" at the Olivier, NT in 1995. Her acclaimed performance in Roger Michell’s film “The Mother”, with Daniel Craig, won her the 2004 London Critics Circle Award for ‘Best Actress’ and nominations for a BAFTA. She has appeared in many TV series, including “Coronation Street” (1961-1971) as ‘Valerie Tatlock/Barlow’ and most recently "Ladies of Letters".
Ronald Harwood (Knighted), author, playwright and screenwriter, has had several of his plays on the West End stage in recent years including "Collaboration" and "Taking Sides" at the Duchess in 2009; "The Dresser" at the Duke of York's in 2005; "See You Next Tuesday" his adaptation of the Francis Veber play, at the Albery in 2003; "Mahler's Conversion" at the Aldwych in 2001; "Quartet" at the Albery in 1999. He won 2003's best adapted screenplay Oscar for The Pianist.
Actor John Nettles (OBE), is best known for his TV work in Bergerac and Midsomer Murders. He was last on the London stage in 1996 for the RSC at the Barbican in "The Devil is An Ass", Julius Caesar" and "Richard II".
