Dame Maggie Smith becomes a Companion of Honour. The BBC reports that she joins 65 individuals recognised for "services of national importance".

OBE for actor Damian Lewis. His London stage credits include The Misanthrope at the Comedy Theatre in 2009 and Pillars of the Community at the National Theatre in 2005. His tv credits include Marine Sergeant Nicholas Brody in "Homeland", Soames Forsyte in the ITV remake of The Forsyte Saga, Detective Charlie Crews in the NBC drama Life, and Major Richard Winters in the HBO miniseries Band of Brothers.

OBE for 82 year old actress Phyllida Law, who was in the original London cast of La Cage aux Folles at the London Palladium in 1986, playing the role of Jacqueline,

MBE for actor & musical star John Barrowman. He has played lead roles in various musicals both in the West End and on Broadway, including Miss Saigon, The Phantom of the Opera Anything Goes and Sunset Boulevard. His tv credits include Doctor Who and Torchwood.
