Tickets for King Lear starring Ian McKellen in the West End now on sale

Tickets to see Ian McKellen play King Lear in the West End are now on sale ahead of the show opening later this summer.

McKellen will reprise the title role in Jonathan Munby's production which first opened at Chichester Festival Theatre in 2017. The production transfers to the Duke of York's Theatre from 11th July. Click here to buy tickets.

Ian McKellen is known for his many roles on stage and screen, including Gandalf in the Lord of the Rings trilogy and Magneto in the X-Men film series. He was last seen on stage in London in No Man's Land at the Wyndham's Theatre alongside Patrick Stewart, and is also known for his many Shakespearean roles. The West End production of King Lear, directed by Munby, will have designs by Paul Wills with lighting by Oliver Fenwick, music and sound by Ben Ringham and Max Ringham, movement by Lucy Cullingford and fight direction by Kate Waters.

The Chichester production also starred Sinead Cusack and Phil Daniels, but the cast joining McKellen has yet been confirmed.

King Lear is at the Duke of York's from 11th July to 3rd November.
