Tim Rice to host Best of Rock Musicals concert in London
Lyricist Tim Rice is set to host a concert celebrating some of the biggest rock musicals in history featuring performers including Kerry Ellis and Adam Pascal in London next year.
The Best of... Rock Musicals, which will benefit the Charlie Weller Memorial Trust, will feature performances of songs from some of Rice's best-known hits including Jesus Christ Superstar, Evita and Chess, as well as other classic rock musicals such as Hair, Miss Saigon, Rent, We Will Rock You, The Rocky Horror Show, Little Shop of Horrors and Dear Evan Hansen.
The concert will be held at the Eventim Apollo at 4pm and 8pm on 12th May 2019.
Performing the songs alongside a West End chorus and the City of London Philharmonic All Stars will be Adam Pascal, Adrianna Hicks, Kristina Love, David Michael Johnson and Kerry Ellis, with further names set to be announced.
Announcing the show, Hugh Wooldridge, who has devised and will direct the show, said: "his event is a must for all who love rock musicals and musical theatre. With the very best artistes in the world coming together to celebrate the very best in rock musicals from the last 50 years."
The Charlie Weller Foundation was formed in 1997 by the family of Charlie Weller, who took his own life whilst suffering from depression. The foundation hopes to support and educate those affected by depression in their lives.
The Best Of... Rock Musicals is at the Eventim Apollo on 12th May 2019.
