Casting news concerning The Vagina Monologues, at the New Ambassadors Theatre
Samantha Bond, Andrea Oliver and Jenny Eclair to join the cast from 20th May 02.
Samantha Bond , who stars in the show until 22nd June, London theatre credits include "Three Tall Women" at the Wyndham's in 1995; "The Ends of the Earth" at the National in 1996; "Amy's View" at the National and Aldwych theatres in 1997, " The Memory of Water" at the Vaudeville in 1999; and "Dinner with Friends" at the Hampstead Theatre in 2001. She is also well known for her characterisation of 'Moneypenny' in the James Bond films.
Andrea Oliver, who stars in the show until 22nd June, has sung with bands 'Rip Rig and Panic' and 'The Wild Bunch'. She performed a monologue at "The Vagina Monologues" gala earlier this year at the Royal Albert Hall and hosted a radio show on GLR for three years..
Jenny Eclairwho only stars in the show until 1st June, returns to the show having peformed for 2 weeks in September last year. Her other West End credits include "Steaming" at the Piccadilly Theatre in 1997.
The Vagina Monologues closes at the New Ambassadors on 22nd June 02. It will then transfer back to the Arts theatre from 25th June to 12th Oct 02
The show originally opened at the New Ambassadors Theatre on 10th May 01. It then transferred to the Arts Theatre on 23rd Oct 01 and then transferred back to the New Ambassadors on 26th Feb 02. It is now returning to the Arts Theatre 25th June 02
The Vagina Monologues is written by Eve Ensler, designed by Bunny Christie with lighting by Chris Davey.
Based on interviews with a diverse group of women - from a Long Island antique dealer to a Bosnian refugee - the play brazenly explores the humour, power, pain, wisdom, outrage, mystery and excitement hidden in vaginas.
