‘Well-Behaved Women’ historical song cycle to be staged at Cadogan Hall
Carmel Dean's new song cycle will celebrate women throughout history.
Imagine Boudicca, Cleopatra and Mary Magdalene singing together in a production all about the power of womanhood. Now you don't have to imagine, as Carmel Dean's new song cycle, titled Well-Behaved Women will be performed at Cadogan Hall on 3 September.
Julie Atherton directs the song-cycle, exploring how the behaviours and attitudes of leading ladies throughout history have changed the world today.
Producers Jamie Lambert and Eliza Jackson said of Well-Behaved Women: "To be able to celebrate and commemorate those who have fought the fight for equality in all forms before us, in such a fun and moving way, is an honour, and to have gathered this incredible group of women in one performance shows the passion and dedication that all involved possess for this incredibly important topic."
The cast includes Cassidy Janson as Virginia Woolf, currently in The Mousetrap. Hiba Elchikhe plays Cleopatra and Malala Yousafzai, now starring in Everybody's Talking About Jamie.
The line-up is completed by Maisey Bawden as Lady Liberty, Anna-Jane Casey as Billie Jean King and Janet Armstrong, Janie Dee as Eleanor Roosevelt, Nicole Raquel Dennis as Eve, Kerry Ellis as Boudicca, Gabriela García as Frida Kahlo, Rachel John as Maya Angelou, Linda John-Pierre as Harriet Tubman and Rachael Wooding as Mary Magdalene.
Other musical theatre concerts at Cadogan Hall this year include Keala Settle in December.
