Wendi Peters, Kimberley Walsh and Matthew Kelly join West End cast of Big
Further casting has been announced for the upcoming West End transfer of Big the Musical, which opens at the Dominion Theatre in September.
Based on the film starring Tom Hanks, the musical is about a 12-year-old boy who wishes he was 'big', and wakes up with the body of an adult. It will star The Wanted singer Jay McGuiness as Josh Baskin after he originated the role during a run in Plymouth in 2016.
Wendi Peters, best known for her role as Cilla in Coronation Street, will play Mrs Baskin. Her theatre credits include The Mystery of Edwin Drood at the Arts Theatre, and White Christmas at the Dominion Theatre.
Girls Aloud popstar Kimberley Walsh will play Susan Lawrence. The Strictly Come Dancing runner-up has previously played Princess Fiona in Shrek the Musical, and Jovie in Elf the Musical.
Matthew Kelly will play George MacMillan in Big. His West End credits include Funny Peculiar, Waiting for Godot alongside Ian McKellen, and Sign of the Times. He has also won an Olivier Award for his role in Of Mice and Men at the Savoy Theatre.
With music by David Shire and lyrics by Richard Maltby, Big has a book by John Weidman and will be directed by Moran Young.
Big the Musical is at the Savoy Theatre from 6th September to 2nd November.
