"WITCHES OF EASTWICK: IAN McSHANE UNLIKELY TO RETURN!!

It is reported that Ian McShane, now seems unlikely to return to the role of 'Darryl van Horne' in The Witches of Eastwick, after leaving three weeks ago because of illness. He has been suffering from a bad case of shingles.

It is thought that producer Cameron Mackintosh wanted Clarke Peters to take over his role , but Peters is reported to be already contracted to play 'Billy Flynn' in Chicago at the Adelphi for six weeks.

Therefore, the role will continue to be played by McShane's understudy, 30-year-old Earl Carpenter, whose previous experience includes playing the Beast in "Disney's Beauty and the Beast".

The show at the Prince of Wales Theatre, continues to feature Maria Friedman Joanna Riding and Lucie Arnaz .
