Noma Dumezweni On Stage - Theatre Credits, Bio and Tickets
Noma Dumezweni is an English actress born in Swaziland, South Africa in 1969 before moving to Suffolk as a child. Dumezweni has established herself as a theatre actress, playing in productions such as Belong at the Royal Court Theatre in 2012 and The Hour We Knew Nothing of Each Other at the National Theatre in 2008.
She has also acted with The Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) in various performances such as Much Ado About Nothing, Antony and Cleopatra at the Theatre Royal Haymarket in 2002, The Winter’s Tale in 2009 at the Courtyard Theatre as the feisty role of Paulina. She also acted as part of RSC’s New Work Season in Breakfast With Mugabe directed by Antony Sher at the Soho Theatre and revived later at the Duchess Theatre, reprising her role as Grace Mugabe. Other notable performances include A Midsummer Night’s Dream, The Master of Margarita and Nathan the Wise, as well as her performace as Alice in Henry V alongside Jude Law at the Noel Coward Theatre. She also starred in the Royal Court Theatre’s Linda which received much acclaim, she played the title role in 2015. However it was her performance for the Young Vic’s a Raisin in the Sun at the Lyric Hammersmith that won her the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Performance in a Supporting Role.
Outside the theatre he has appeared in many television shows including Holby City, Silent Witness, The Bill, Shameless, New Tricks, EastEnders and as Captain Erisa Magambo in Doctor Who. She has also appeared in Dirty Pretty Things (2002) film as Celia.
Dumezweni returns to the West End in much revered Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Part One and Two at the Palace Theatre, playing the role of Hermione alongside Jamie Parker as Harry. The show is set to run from June 2016 until December 2017 and has received five star reviews.
