Final casting has been announced for Joe Orton’s play Loot, which will celebrate its 50th anniversary with a production at the Park Theatre. Joining the previously announced Calvin Demba, Sam Frenchum and Sinéad Matthews will be Christopher Fulford, Ian Redford, Raphael Bar and Anah Ruddin. Orton’s play is about two young friends, Hal ad Dennis, who stash the takings of a bank robbery away in an unoccupied coffin. The play sees the friends attempt to hide their crime from a policeman, a nurse and a grieving widow.
Infamous for receiving the wrath of the Lord Chamberlain’s censorship when the show first opened in 1965 but later going on to enjoy large success, and even a film in 1970, Loot has its own fair share of off stage drama.
