John Boyega was born in London in 1992. He joined the Theatre Peckham at a young age after getting noticed by the artistic director. He then attended South Thames College where he received a National Diploma in Performing Arts, and starred in college productions including Othello.
Boyega later trained in Hackney at the Identity School of Acting, appearing in Category B at the Kiln Theatre and in Six Parties at the National Theatre. Following this, he played a role in the film Attack the Block. His performance earned him a Black Reel Award for Best Actor, as well as nominations for numerous awards including an Empire Award and a London Film Critic’s Circle Award.
Boyega starred in Star Wars: The Force Awakens in 2015. His performance earned him critical acclaim for critics and audiences alike. In 2017, Boyega starred in Jack Thorne’s new version of Woyzeck at the Old Vic.
