Paapa Essiedu established himself as one of Britain's most compelling stage actors, winning the 2016 Ian Charleson Award for his performance as Hamlet at the RSC. His notable roles included Tristan in The Effect, which transferred from the National Theatre to New York's The Shed, Bernard in A Number at The Old Vic, and Chilford in The Convert at The Young Vic. He received a Drama League Award nomination for Distinguished Performance for The Effect.
