Aladdin - Disney's New Musical Extends Booking in London

The West End production of Aladdin - Disney's New Musical has extended its booking period at the Prince Edward Theatre in London's West End where it is now booking to 8 July 2017.

The production opened officially on 15 June 2016 following previews from 13 February. The show, which was nominated for the Tony Award for Best Musical, received positive reviews with critics praising the scale of the production and the performance of Trevor Dion Nicholas in particular.

The cast for the London production includes Dean John-Wilson (Aladdin), Jade Ewen (Jasmine), Trevor Dion Nicholas (Genie), Don Gallagher (Jafar), Peter Howe (Iago), Irvine Iqbal (Sultan), Nathan Amzi (Babkak), Stephen Rahman-Hughes (Kassim), and Rachid Sabitri (Omar).

Directed by Tony Award-winner Casey Nicholaw the production features spectacular dance routines, breath-taking visual effects and a hilarious book, Featuring a score of well known classic Disney songs by Alan Menken, Howard Ashman, Tim Rice & Chad Beguelin the musical features hits such as "Friend Like Me", "Arabian Nights", "Prince Ali" and of course, the Oscar-winning "A Whole New World".

Following the plot of the much-loved animated film of the same name, the musical tells the story of Aladdin, a street urchin who meets and falls in love with Princess Jasmine. However, Jasmine can only marry a prince, but all is not lost as Aladdin owns a magic lamp, and with the help of its Genie sets out to win the hand of his princess in marriage.

Aladdin follows previous Walt Disney Theatricals productions in the West End including Beauty and the Beast (Dominion Theatre), Mary Poppins (Prince Edward) and the long running hit musical The Lion King which continues at the Lyceum Theatre.

We spoke to the cast and creative team of Aladdin at the official press opening.
