Simon Shephard will play 'Serge', Philip Franks 'Yvan', and Leigh Lawson 'Marc', (The current cast - Nigel Havers, Barry Foster and Roger Lloyd Pack - leave on 1st Dec 2001. )
Simon Shephard is best known for his role in TV's "Peak Practice".
Philip Franks London stage credits include "The Importance of Being Earnest" at the Old Vic 1995 and Marat/Sade" at the Royal National Theatre in 1997.
Leigh Lawson London stage credits include "Old Times" at the Wyndham's in 1995 and "A Midsummer Night's Dream" at the Barbican in 1996.
ART by Yasmina Reza, translated by Christopher Hampton, opened in London at Wyndham's Theatre on 15th Oct 1996 starring Albert Finney, Tom Courtenay and Ken Stott, and won both the Evening Standard Drama Award and the Laurence Olivier Award for 'Best Comedy'.
Before transferring to the Whitehall theatre on 16th Oct 01, it had become the Wyndham's longest ever running play!
"ART" is the play with the most Olivier Award nominations ever, having received five in 1997, and the New York production won both the Tony Award and the New York Critics Award for 'Best Play'.
"ART" is directed by Matthew Warchus, with this production re-directed by Rachel Kavanaugh. It is designed by Mark Thompson and produced by David Pugh Limited and Sean Connery.
The play concerns the relationship between three friends which is turned upon its head when one of them purchases a work of modern art.
