Benedict Cumberbatch & Jonny Lee Miller will alternate the roles of Victor Frankenstein and the Creature in the National Theatre's production of Frankenstein, a new play by Nick Dear, based on the novel by Mary Shelley, directed by Danny Boyle, which opens at the National's Olivier Theatre in February 2011. His TV credits include his portrayal of Stephen Hawking in the BBC drama, Hawking in 2004; TV adaptation of Small Island in 2009 and lately, Sherlock Holmes in the BBC series Sherlock. Benedict will feature in the film version of War Horse next year, directed by Steven Spielberg.
Jonny Lee Miller's London stage credits include Someone Who'll Watch Over Me at the New Ambassadors in 2005 and Festen at the Almeida in 2004. He also appeared on Broadway with Sienna Miller in a production of After Miss Julie. Film credits include the role of Sick Boy in Trainspotting (1996). In 2009 he played Mr. Knightley in a BBC adaptation of Jane Austen's Emma.
