Brooke Shields to join cast of "Chicago"

American film and theatre star Brooke Shields will make her British stage debut starring as 'Roxie Hart' in Chicago at the Adelphi theatre from 26 April to 25 June 2005 (except 3-13 May).

Josefina Gabrielle will play 'Roxie Hart' from 11-25 April and 3-13 May. Anna Montanaro will continue to play 'Velma Kelly' until 7 May, when Charley Izabella King, who recently played 'Ulla' in the American national tour of "The Producers", will take over the role.

Michael French (Billy Flynn) , Robert Hands (Amos Hart) and Zee Asha (Mama Morton) will continue in the show.

Chicago is based on the play by Maurine Dallas Watkins, has a book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb. Scenic design is by John Lee Beatty, costume design by William Ivey Long, lighting by Ken Billington and sound by Rick Clarke. Musical supervision is by Rob Fisher and musical direction by Gareth Valentine. It is choreographed by Ann Reinking in the style of Bob Fosse and directed by Walter Bobbie.

Concerns Roxie, a chorus girl who has murdered her lover but manages to get acquitted with the help of sleazy lawyer.
