Cast Announced for Titus Andronicus at the Globe

Casting for Lucy Bailey's production of Titus Andronicus, at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre from 24 Apr - 13 Jul 2014 has been announced.

William Houston will star as Titus, alongside Indira Varma as Tamora, in this revised production of Bailey's 2006 adaptation of William Shakespeare's most gruesome tragedy.

Returning to Rome from a war against the Goths, the general Titus Andronicus brings with him the queen Tamora and her three sons as prisoners of war. Titus sacrifices Tamora's eldest son in order to appease the ghosts of his own dead sons, and a cycle of mutilation, rape and murder begins...

William Houston has worked extensively with the RSC and was nominated for an Evening Standard Award for Best Actor in 'Henry V'. His screen credits include: 'Clash of the Titans' and 'Sherlock Holmes'. Indira Varma trained at RADA and was last seen in the West End in Jamie Lloyd's 2013 production of 'The Hothouse' at Trafalgar Studios. On screen she has had roles in 'Luther', 'Silk' and 'Rome' and can also be seen in the forthcoming series of 'Game of Thrones'.

The full cast for Titus Andronicus includes Obi Abili, Steffan Donnelly, Dyfan Dwyfor, Samuel Edward-Cook, Paul Ham, Ian Gelder, Nicholas Karimi, Jake Mann, Brian Martin, Matthew Needham, Bryonie Pritchard, David Shaw-Parker, Flora Spencer-Longhurst, and Jamie Wilkes.

The production is directed by Lucy Bailey and features designs by William Dudley and music by Django Bates.
