Final casting has been announced for Joe Orton's play Loot, which will celebrate its 50th anniversary with a production at the Park Theatre.

Joining the previously announced Calvin Demba, Sam Frenchum and Sinéad Matthews will be Christopher Fulford, Ian Redford, Raphael Bar and Anah Ruddin.

Orton's play is about two young friends, Hal ad Dennis, who stash the takings of a bank robbery away in an unoccupied coffin. The play sees the friends attempt to hide their crime from a policeman, a nurse and a grieving widow.

Sam Frenchum plays Hal, and his previous theatre credits include Space Vixens (Edinburgh Festival Fringe) and Our Days Of Rage (Old Vic Tunnels). Hollyoaks actor Calvin Demba plays fellow robber Dennis, and his previous credits include Routes at the Royal Court.

Matthews (Hedda Gabler, National) plays Nurse McMahon, Fulford (The Crucible, Open Air Theatre) plays Truscott, Raphael Bar (Ray Cooney's Out of Order) will play Meadows and Redford (The Alchemist, RSC) will play McLeavey.

Loot first ran in Cambridge in 1965, and ran at the Criterion Theatre in London in 1967, just months before Orton's death. The play went on to win the Evening Standard Award for Best Play that same year.

The production will open at the Park Theatre on 23rd August (previews from 17th August) and transfer to the Watermill Theatre in Newbury on 28th September.
