Charlie and the Chocolate Factory extends to 30 May 2015

The new stage musical of Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - The Musical, directed by Sam Mendes, is to extend its booking period by seven months to 30 May 2015, at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane. Tickets for the new dates will go on sale from Friday 7 Feb 2014.

The musical, which opened 25 June 2013, following previews from 22 May, has book by David Greig and new songs from Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman. Designs & costumes by Mark Thompson, choreography by Peter Darling, lighting by Paul Pyant, sound by Paul Arditti.

The cast includes Douglas Hodge (Willy Wonka) and Nigel Planer (Grandpa Joe).

The mysterious Willy Wonka is opening his Chocolate Factory for just one day, and for Charlie Bucket it promises to be a mouth-watering chance to feast his eyes on sweets beyond his wildest imagination.

Producers of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory - The Musical, Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures, Neal Street Productions and Kevin McCormick, have announced that the show has once more broken West End theatre records for the highest reported weekly gross sales. It has now done this for a second time by taking £1,080,260.00 in the week commencing 30 December 2013. The previous record of £1,062,606.00 was achieved by the show in the week commencing 28 October 2013.
