"Chicago": Marti Pellow joins cast 3 May; Paul Leonard 17 May 2004

Former "Wet Wet Wet" lead singer Marti Pellow will return to star as 'Billy Flynn' in Chicago at the Adelphi Theatre from 3 May 2004 for seven weeks only. (He played the role for five months in the summer of 2002). He will then make his Broadway debut in the New York production for five weeks from 2 Aug 2004.

It has also been annopunced that Paul Leonard will take over the role of 'Amos Hart' on 17 May. His credits include West End roles in "Les Misérables", "The Phantom of the Opera", "Guys and Dolls" and "Oklahoma".

Chicago, which opened in London 18 Nov 1997 to rave reviews, currently stars Frances Ruffelle as 'Roxie Hart', Tiffany Graves as 'Velma Kelly', Alex Bourne as 'Billy Flynn' until 1 May, Kevin Kennedy as 'Amos Hart' until 15 May, and Zee Asha as 'Mama Morton'.

Chicago is based on the play by Maurine Dallas Watkins, has a book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb. Scenic design is by John Lee Beatty, costume design by William Ivey Long, lighting by Ken Billington and sound by Rick Clarke. Musical supervision is by Rob Fisher and musical direction by Gareth Valentine. It is choreographed by Ann Reinking in the style of Bob Fosse and directed by Walter Bobbie.

Concerns Roxie, a chorus girl who has murdered her lover but manages to get acquitted with the help of sleazy lawyer.
