Gods and Monsters Theatre have announced that they will present the world premiere of Crime & Punishment: A Rock Musical at The Scoop, an outdoor free venue by City Hall in central London. Running from 31 August to 25 September 2016, it will have an official press night on 2 September 2016.

Adapted and directed by Phil Willmott, this new production will transform Dostoyeksky's most famous novel into a rock musical that features specially written songs and favourite tracks by  Toyah Willcox and her song-writing partner Simon Darlow

"Published in 1866 Dostoyeksky's Crime and Punishment is one of the most famous and influential novels in world literature. When an idealistic student kills a ruthless money lender, who terrorises the poor of St. Petersburg, the novel challenges us to ask if murder is ever justified. Rock music works as the perfect medium to express the energy, rebellion and passion of the story."

The theatre season is part of London Bridge City Summer Festival which runs 1 June to 31 October 2016. Tickets to the production are free and are available for audiences on a first-come-first-served basis for each performance at 8pm.
