David Tennant and Michael Sheen to star in BBC lockdown-themed comedy series

UPDATE: In a tweet by BBC Press on 22 October, a second series of Staged will be filmed. The cast will star David Tennant and Michael Sheen, airing on BBC One at 9:45pm on 4 Jan 2021.

A brand new comedy series about actors in lockdown will air on BBC One next month, starring David Tennant and Michael Sheen. The pair will appear in Staged, a six-part series filmed remotely via video conferences and self-shooting.

Staged tells the story of the cast of a West End play suddenly made furloughed as their production grinds to a halt. As they create their drama in lockdown, the actors try to keep their spirits up and stay on track in unconventional circumstances.

David Tennant will star in the series, set to return to the West End later this year as John Halder in GoodMichael Sheen will also appear in the show, with Olivier Award-nominated performances in Caligula, Look Back in Anger and Amadeus.

The cast of Staged includes Georgia Tennant, Lucy Eaton and Anna Lundberg, with guest stars including Nina Sosanya.
