Donmar annnounce final season at Trafalgar Studios 2

The Donmar Warehouse has announced its third and final season of the company's annual residency at the Trafalgar Studios Two from 15 Nov 2012 to 2 Feb 2013. Artistic Director Josie Rourke has commissioned three 'leading' playwrights: Penelope Skinner, Conor McPherson and Anthony Weigh, to pen new versions of classic European works.

The Promise, by Aleksei Arbuzov, translated by Ariadne Nicolaeff, in a new English version by Penelope Skinner. Opens 19 NOv 2012, following previews from 15 Nov - running to 8 Dec 2012. Directed by Alex Sims. In war-ravaged Leningrad, 1943, three teenagers are thrown together by history. In the years following the siege allegiances shift, love falters and their vow of solidarity is stretched to its limits.

The Dance of Death, by August Strindberg, in a new English version by Conor McPherson. Opens 17 Dec 2012, following previews from 13 Dec - running to 5 Jan 2013. Directed by Titas Halder. On an isolated island, Military captain Edgar and his wife, Alice, live a bitter life, their marriage soured by hatred. When the possibility of redemption and escape arrives for Alice in the shape of their former comrade Kurt, it seems that Edgar is prepared to use his very last breath to make their lives a living hell.

The Silence of the Sea, by Vercors. A version by Anthony Weigh. Opens 14 Jan 2013, following previews from 10 Jan - running to 2 Feb 2013. Directed by Simon Evans. In a time of conflict, a soldier is billeted to the home of an old man and his niece. Powerless to turn him away, they resist him with silence - a silence that becomes their most potent weapon.
