Everybody’s Talking About Jamie extends in the West End
Everybody's Talking About Jamie, the musical that has now been running in the West End for one year, has extended its run at the Apollo Theatre, it has been announced.
With music from The Feeling songwriter Dan Gillespie Sells and a book by Tom MacRae, the musical tells the story of a 16-year-old boy called Jamie New who comes under fire when he decides he wants to wear a dress to his high school prom.
Having opened in the West End in 2017 after its world premiere at Sheffield Crucible, the city in which the show is set, it has now been announced that the musical is booking at the Apollo Theatre until 28th September 2019.
Recently, RuPaul's Drag Race judge Michelle Visage took over the role of schoolteacher Miss Hedge, and it was announced that actor Layton Williams will take over the titular role from originator John McCrea in January.
In a five-star review of the West End premiere, Mark Shenton said the musical should "run and run" hinting that the musical could be suitable for a future Broadway transfer.
Everybody's Talking About Jamie is booking at the Apollo Theatre until 28th September 2019.
