Evita extends to 13 Jan 2007

The revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber & Tim Rice's musical Evita has been extended by 3 months at the Adelphi Theatre - tickets now on sale to 13 Jan 2007.

After an absence of some 21 years, the show opened at the Adelphi Theatre 21 June 2006, following previews from 2 June, to superb notices from the popular press: NICHOLAS DE JONGH for THE EVENING STANDARD says, "Dynamic production." MICHAEL BILLINGTON for THE GUARDIAN says, "Decent revival." CHARLES SPENCER for THE DAILY TELEGRAPH says, "Outstanding revival...Almost every song is memorable." BENEDICT NIGHTINGALE for THE TIMES says, "Riveting show." PAUL TAYLOR for THE INDEPENDENT says, "Powerful production."

Directed by Michael Grandage, the cast includes Elena Roger (Eva Peron), Matt Rawle as Che, and Philip Quast as General Juan Peron

It is designed by Christopher Oram, and Choreographed by Rob Ashford. Lighting by Paule Constable and sound by Mick Potter. The musical supervisor will be Simon Lee.

Evita follows the tale of Eva Peron, who, though never an elected official, became a powerful political figure in Argentina following her marriage to President Juan Peron, until her death of cancer aged 33 in 1952.
