Full cast joining Ian McKellen in King Lear in the West End announced

The full cast joining Ian McKellen in King Lear at the Duke of York's Theatre later this year has been announced.

Sinéad Cusack (Kent), Danny Webb (Gloucester), Kirsty Bushell (Regan), Richard Clews, John Hastings, Michael Matus and Caleb Roberts will reprise their roles from Jonathan Munby's original Chichester Festival Theatre production.

They will be joined in the West End by James Corrigan (Edmund), Lloyd Hutchinson (Fool), Claire Price (Goneril), Luke Thompson (Edgar), and Anita-Joy Uwajeh (Cordelia).

 Anthony Howell (Albany), James Millard, Johanne Murdock, Jessica Murrain, Daniel Rabin (Cornwall), Scott Sparrow (Albany's Man), and John Vernon complete the West End cast.

King Lear runs at the Duke of York's Theatre from 11th July to 3rd November. King Lear tickets are available now.

The production will have designs by Paul Wills with lighting by Oliver Fenwick, music and sound by Ben Ringham and Max Ringham, with movement direction by Lucy Cullingford and fight direction by Kate Waters.

Ahead of the Chichester run last year, McKellen, one of Britain's most celebrated actors, spoke about how King Lear could be his last his last major Shakespearean roles.

It has also been announced that the production will be broadcast to cinemas across the world via NT Live on 27th September. 

King Lear is at the Duke of York's Theatre from 11th July to 3rd November.
