Full casting announced for Summer and Smoke at the Almeida Theatre

The full cast has been announced for the Almeida Theatre's production of Tennessee Williams' play Summer and Smoke, which runs from February.

Joining the previously announced Patsy Ferran will be Seb Carrington, Nancy Crane, Eric MacLennan, Forbes Masson, Matthew Needham, Tok Stephen and Anjana Vasan.

Summer and Smoke runs at the Almeida Theatre from 24th February to 7th April, with an official opening on 7th March.

Williams' play is set in Mississippi at the beginning of the 20th century, and follows Alma Winemiller, the unmarried daughter of a minister.  It premiered in Dallas in 1948 before running for 102 performances on Broadway at the Music Box Theatre. The play wasn't performed in London until October 2006 when Adrian Noble directed Rosamund Pike and Chris Carmack at the Apollo Theatre.

This new production, directed by Rebecca Frecknall (resident director on Ink), Summer and Smoke will have designs by Tom Scutt, lighting designs by Lee Curran, compositions by Angus MacRae, sound by Carolyn Downing and has been cast by Julia Horan.

Summer and Smoke is the final production in the Almeida's current season which opened with Mike Barlett's Albion, with the first stage adaptation of The Twilight Zone currently running at the North London venue.

Summer and Smoke is at the Almeida Theatre form 24th February.
