Full casting for Conor McPherson’s ‘Shining City’ at Theatre Royal Stratford East

The month-long London revival begins performances in September.

The full cast for the London revival of Shining City has been named, ahead of performances in the autumn. The four-person play is at Theatre Royal Stratford East from 17 September - 23 October, and you can find out more about the upcoming season here. 

Joining Brendan Coyle are Michelle Fox, currently starring in Romeo and Juliet at Regent's Park Open Air Theatre. Rory Keenan also stars, previously in Saint Joan at the Donmar Warehouse, with Curtis-Lee Ashqar rounding off the Shining City company.

Set in Dublin, Shining City follows John, recently made a widower and haunted by the presence of his dead wife. Revealing his inner secrets to Ian, a psychotherapist and former priest, the pair begin to understand how they fit in the wider world.

Shining City is by Conor McPherson; McPherson's recent works include Girl From the North Country and an adaptation of Uncle Vanya. Nadia Fall directs, with design by Peter McKintosh, lighting design by Howard Harrison, sound design by Alexandra Faye Braithwaite and movement by Jack Murphy.

Shining City made its world premiere at the Royal Court in June 2004, where it ran for a month. The play then transferred to Broadway for a two month run, receiving two Tony nominations.

Shining City is at Theatre Royal Stratford East from 17 September - 23 October.
