Further casting announced for Strictly Ballroom the Musical in the West End

Further cast members joining the previously announced Jonny Labey, Zizi Strallen and Will Young in Strictly Ballroom have been announced. 

Baz Luhrmann's musical, which is based on the first film from his Red Curtain Trilogy, is about championship ballroom dancer Scott (Labey) and his dance partner Fran (Strallen) as their love blossoms as they rally against the competition's authorities. 

Anna Francolini will play Scott's mother Shirley Hastings, a former ballroom dancer herself who will stop at nothing to ensure her son's success. Francolini's previous stage credits include wonder.land and Peter Pan (National), and Onassis (Novello Theatre). 

Gerard Horan will play Barry Fife, the 'corrupt ruler of the ballroom-dancing world'. His stage credits include The Ferryman (Royal Court/Gielgud Theatre), The Vote (Donmar Warehouse) and One Man Two Guvnors (Theatre Royal Haymarket). 

They join previously announced cast members Michelle Bishop, Ivan De Freitas, Gabriela Garcia, Charlotte Gooch, Richard Grieve, Liam Marcellino, Stephen Matthews, Fernando, Eve Polycarpou, Lauren Stroud and Gary Watson

The cast also includes Chris Bennett, Chrissy Brooke, Hannah Fairclough, Selina Hamilton, Christopher D Hunt, Luke Jackson, Justin-Lee Jones, Robin Kent, Jacob Maynard, Leanne Pinder, Tinovimbanashe Sibanda and Dale White.

Strictly Ballroom is at the Piccadilly Theatre from 29th March, with an official opening night on 24th April.
