Joining the previously announced Martin Freeman as the notorious Richard III will be Gina McKee as Queen Elizabeth. McKee is best known to film fans for playing the role of Bella in 'Notting Hill', alongside Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts. Her extensive stage credits include her Olivier-nominated performance as Goneril in Michael Grandage's production of 'King Lear' at the Donmar Warehouse. She has previously worked with director Jamie Lloyd on productions of 'The Lover' and 'The Collection' at the Comedy Theatre in 2008.

Further casting includes: Simon Coombs (Tyrrel), Philip Cumbus (Richmond), Gerald Kyd (Catesby), Paul Leonard (Stanley), Forbes Masson (Hastings), Paul McEwan (King Edward IV/Bishop of Ely), Mark Meadows (Clarence/Lord Mayor), Lauren O'Neil (Lady Anne), Maggie Steed (Queen Margaret) and Jo Stone-Fewings (Buckingham).

This new production will feature designs by Soutra Gilmour, who previously collaborated with Jamie Lloyd on the first Trafalgar Transformed season. Lighting design will be by Charles Balfour, with sound & music by Ben and Max Ringham and fights by Kate Waters.

Shakespeare's bloodthirsty history play charts the rise and fall of Richard Duke of Gloucester as he resolves to climb to political power at any cost. Through shrewd manipulation, wit and charm he builds a network of lies and deceit, as his unlawful ascent sees him take the crowd despite his Machiavellian deeds.

Priority booking opens on 9 May, with tickets on general release from 13 May 2014.
