‘Hamilton’ sets West End reopening date in 2021

The five-time Olivier Award-winning musical returns to the Victoria Palace Theatre.

After nine months of paused performances, a reopening date for Hamilton at the Victoria Palace Theatre. Hamilton will resume shows from 15 May 2021; the latest West End show which has confirmed a spring 2021 return.

Dramatising the life of American Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, Hamilton charts his ascension from a poor orphan to becoming the nation's first Secretary of the Treasury. Adapted from Ron Chernow's biography, Hamilton features an original book, music and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda, eventually winning the Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

Full casting for Hamilton's West End return is to be confirmed. The West End cast before lockdown includes Karl Queensborough as Alexander Hamilton, Simon-Anthony Roden as Aaron Burr, Gavin Spokes as King George III and Trevor Dion Nicholas as George Washington. Allyson Ava-Brown plays Angelica Schuyler, with Sharon Rose as Eliza Hamilton, Emilie Louise Israel as Peggy Schuyler/Maria Reynolds, Emile Ruddock as Hercules Mulligan/James Madison, Jason Pennycooke as Marquis de Lafayette/Thomas Jefferson and Carl Spencer as (John Laurens/Philip Hamilton.

Hamilton's return to the West End comes at a similar time to numerous London shows also expecting to reopen in the middle of 2021. Mary Poppins is scheduling an opening date of 22 May, with Les Miserables on 29 May and The Phantom of the Opera in June 2021.

Hamilton returns to the Victoria Palace Theatre from 15 May 2021.
