"HUMBLE BOY" EXTENDS TO 30TH NOV 02

Humble Boy , by Charlotte Jones has been extended again, this time by 6 months 30th Nov 02.

This play opened for a limited run at the Cottesloe at the Royal National Theatre in August last year with Diana Rigg in the lead role. It received great notices from the popular press.

The play transferred to the Gielgud Theatre in January this year with Felicity Kendal taking over Diana Rigg's part. The rest of the cast remained the same: Simon Russell Beale , Denis Quilley, Cathryn Bradshaw, Marcia Warren and William Gaunt. (A new cast is expected from 3rd June 02)

The show's transfer was well received by the popular press: THE EVENING STANDARD said, "I admit to being gently amused and interested, touched and entertained by Humble Boy's awkward mixture of comedy and farce, drama and intellectualism. " DAILY TELEGRAPH said, "Magnificently fresh, clever - and moving." THE TIMES said, "It’s not surprising that Rigg was far more chilling in this role than Kendal proves now....Yet Kendal’s softer approach pays dividends....

Directed by John Caird, this is a comedy about broken vows, failed hopes and the joys of beekeeping. All is not well in the Humble hive. 35 year old Felix Humble is a Cambridge astro-physicist in search of a unified field theory. Following the sudden death of his father, he returns to his middle England and his difficult and demanding mother, where he soon realises that his search for unity must include his own chaotic home life.
