In La Cage Aux Folles, Roger Allam to join cast as Albin & Philip Quast to return as George

Cast changes in La cage Aux Folles , from 4 May 2009. Roger Allam to join cast as Albin & Philip Quast to return as George. They will play the parts to 26 Aug 2009.

Graham Norton (Albin) and Steven Pacey (George) to extend their run to 2 May 2009.

Also, the show will extend its run at the Playhouse Theatre to 9 Jan 2010. (Tickets will be released for sale on 16 March).

The Menier Chocolate Factory production of La cage Aux Folles , opened at the Playhouse Theatre 30 Oct 2008, following previews from 20 Oct, to terrific notices from the popular press: THE GUARDIAN says, "A great musical." THE DAILY MAIL says, " La Cage is a belter of a night out." THE TIMES says, "Suddenly, the West End sparkles." THE DAILY TELEGRAPH says, "This is a glorious night of showbiz razzle-dazzle and emotional generosity."

La cage Aux Folles is directed by Terry Johnson, with choreography by Lynne Page and the musical director is Nigel Lilley. It is designed by Tim Shortall with costumes by Matthew Wright.

Music and Lyrics by Jerry Herman, Book by Harvey Fierstein, based on the Play La Cage aux Folles by Jean Poiret.

The idyllic existence of Georges and the dazzling drag artiste Albin, star of the La Cage aux Folles club, is threatened when Georges' son announces his engagement to the daughter of a right-wing politician, who wants to close down the local colourful nightlife! With a visit from the prospective in-laws imminent, they all decide to take drastic action to hide their lifestyle...but can they keep it up?
